Menswear with Tiger | I See A Different You

The trio that forms I See a Different You is widely known for the arresting photography. It is the trio’s fashion sense however that affords their images the opportunity of growing full circle, becoming fashionable photographs. Twins Justice and Innocent Mukheli and Vuyo Mpantsha created their blog (iseeadifferentyou.tumblr.com) in 2011 with the intent of showcasing their true version of Soweto – as opposed to the hard, gritty and sad images we are often shown. They considered the blog to be a tribute to the places they had grown up in and the individuals who had raised them. As the blog progressed, readers began to see each individual’s personal style – Vuyo with an edgy undertaking of fashion, and Justice and Innocent exploring a more clean-cut and polished aesthetic. Their style has distinct undertones of vintage apparel, and they attribute this to how their parents and grandparents used to dress. The collective’s nostalgia of a fashion era gone by is illustrated by their use of accessories, from brogues to fedoras. Their fascination with the functionality and striking value of denim is noticeable in their images – often wearing denim dungarees, pants and shirts. The trio aspires to inform the world not only about the beauty of South Africa, but of its citizens, their style and culture.

serendipitycandid: hey, just wanted to ask a few questions. Where did your love for ART begin and did you study at an institution or university? Also< how do you remain inspired and motivated to visually communicate. I'm applying for varsity very soon and would love to pursue a career in visual art. thanks!

My love for art started in primary school, I wasn’t an academic so i use to draw a lot in class. I never studied anything just learnt from friends and mentors.
